A PASSAGE TO INDIA - France
Every year early in September, in the Ganesh Temple of Paris, located at 72, rue Philippe de Girard, in the 18th district, is organized the birthday celebration of the most popular and beloved hindu God. It is the Ganesha Chaturthi. In Paris a chariot, wonderfully adorned with thousands flowers, welcomes the magnificent Ganesh image made of golden bronze, which usually abides in the temple. A second chariot welcomes the Ganesh's brother, the god Skanda, also named Murugan or Karttikeya. These chariots are hand pulled by devotees in the streets, among the general happiness and religious fervour of the Hindu community, gathered here, living in France.
